It's that time of year again! Time for backyard barbecues, a weekend on the lake, and firework shows shared with friends and family. But what are you supposed to bring to these 4th of July gatherings? Just another salad or container of store bought sugar cookies that are sure to blend in with the rest of the dishes? OR an incredibly festive cake that is sure to catch everyone's eye with its bright red, white and blue colors and extravagant amount of patriotic sprinkles?! If you are looking to bring a dessert that will stand out this 4th of July or at any other patriotic holiday, then you have come to the right place!
Picture this: You are a kid again, and it's a hot summer day, you just got done playing outside or getting out of the pool and now you're hungry. So in that moment, what was arguably one of the best snacks you could receive? ICE CREAM obviously! Whether it was in the form of a sundae, milkshake, or popsicle! Now, I don't know about you, but one of my favorite ice cream treats as a kid were the strawberry sundae crunch bars that were sold at the pool or that your parents would bring home by the boxful. With its combination of chilled ice cream and sweet strawberry flavor, they were the perfect treat to hit the spot on any hot summer day.
Now, what would you say if you could get that same great combination, but in the form of a giant ice cream cake!? Well, look no further, because this cake has everything you could ever want in a summer dessert. It has ice cream, cake, a delicious strawberry flavor, and mimics both in appearance and flavor, one of the best tasting ice cream treats. No matter the age-group, this cake is sure to satisfy, especially on a hot summer day. The only way to make Valentine's Day any sweeter is with this cake! You could share it with your significant other, your friends and family, or even enjoy a slice or two by yourself while snuggled up watching one of the newest romantic comedies on Netflix!
I have seen so many cute Christmas desserts this year that I have wanted to try and make, but with the craziness this time of year brings I barely found time to make just this one! So if you are still trying to find the perfect treat to take to your Christmas gathering, I have the perfect cake for you!. It is super cute, easy and fun to decorate, and sure to be a hit.
For many people here in the United States, the colorful skulls and decorations lining the aisles at stores in October signify a culture and a tradition they know little about. But for many individuals through out Latin America, especially Mexico, el Día de los Muertos is an important holiday meant to celebrate and remember loved ones who have died. El Día de los Muertos begins November 1 and lasts through November 2, and it is typically celebrated with public festivals and parades, music, dancing, visiting and decorating the graves of loved ones, making them an altar, and many more activities. Despite some common misconceptions, el Día de los Muertos is not a time of sadness nor grief, and it is very distinct from Halloween. While it is not recognized as a federal holiday in the United States, the celebration has increased in popularity in several cities and has increasingly been incorporated into the mainstream.
For those who took the time to read that brief history, I encourage you to look into the celebration and history more! But back to the point, in just 3 short days, el Día de los Muertos will be celebrated by several hundred million people, families, and communities around the world in a variety of ways, and what better way for me than to bake! Rather than incorporating the holiday into my usual cookies and cakes, I wanted to try something different and thought chocolate-dipped Rice Krispie treats would be just the way to do that! Welcome back all you boys and ghouls (yes this spooky pun was definitely necessary)! It is finally October, and I think I speak for a lot of people when I say this is easily one of the best times of the year. With harvest, pumpkins, the leaves changing colors, and the usually beautiful fall weather (well so much for that this year), it seems that this month couldn't get any better. BUT IT DOES, because it is officially spooky season and Halloween is just around the corner! The decorations, the costumes, the food, and really anything that has to do with Halloween...you name it, and I am excited for it, which is why I knew I could not miss the opportunity create a Halloween-inspired cake.
Still looking for the perfect treat to take to any 4th of July parties you have coming up? While there are an abundance of fun red, white, and blue ideas all over Pinterest and other sites, it doesn't get more patriotic than this cake. Not only is it decked out in all things red, white, and blue, but once you cut into the cake your slices will resemble the American flag, and then whenever you are ready, you can light up the night with the sparklers on top!
What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think about sitting around a campfire with friends or family during those warm summer nights? Well I can tell you what I think of…S’mores! So, I could not think of a better cake to make for this time of year. I have to say, after trying this cake, I’m not sure if I would rather sit outside around a campfire eating an actual s’more or a slice of this cake instead! With a graham cracker cake, marshmallow filling, chocolate buttercream, graham cracker crumble, and finally a chocolate ganache drizzle this cake is packed with flavor. By the time you finish it, you’ll be wanting S'MORE! (Cheesy I know but try it, and I am sure you will agree!)
If you want to save some time, an easy way to cut down on preparation is to buy canned chocolate frosting and a jar of marshmallow fluff from the store instead of making both from scratch. While the homemade version is delicious, you might be running low on time and looking for a quick fix instead! No matter how you decide to make it, I am sure you will enjoy this version of everyone’s favorite summer treat! Included below are recipes and directions for each component of the S’mores Cake, as well as a video and instructions showing how to assemble it. Good luck and enjoy! |
AuthorHi, Breanne again! This is where you will be able to find all of my blogs, and I am excited to see what I find to write about next. Maybe I will even be able to inspire you to do some baking or maybe it will just be a little entertainment for your day. Either way, baking and writing are two activities I really enjoy, so I look forward to being able to share that with you! Categories
